Early intervention pre-school classrooms provide services for children from age three to school age. These classes use developmental curricula to plan appropriate goals and activities for children. Three classrooms are located throughout Lancaster County in Ephrata, Lancaster, and Mount Joy. Each classroom is part of an early childhood setting where there is daily interaction with typical pre-school age children.
Every child referred to an S. June Smith pre-school class has an individualized educational plan specific to the child’s needs and services. The parent is an active participant in making this plan. Physical, occupational and speech therapies are provided in an integrated setting in the classroom, on the playground or wherever else needed.
Our pre-schools follow the educational extended school year calendar, which provides regular breaks and holidays. The typical school day is from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and includes the lunch meal. Transportation to and from the classroom is also provided.
